Today, Friday, September 15th, 2023, USM Algiers won the African Super Cup after defeating its Egyptian rival, Al-Ahly, with a score of 1-0.

The match, which was hosted by King Fahd Stadium in the Saudi city of Taif, witnessed a deserved coronation for the Algerian representative in this final, for the players of coach Abdelhak Ben Sheikha, since the match’s only goal was scored in the 42nd minute by Zinedine Belaid from a penalty kick, and then they played with tactical discipline at the highest level. This allowed them to keep a clean sheet and win the cup for the first time in their history.

As for its competitor, Al-Ahly of Egypt, despite its many opportunities, it found a lookout goalkeeper called Ben Bout, whose contribution to this achievement was no less than that of his colleague and the only scorer of the match, Belaid.
